My name is Jeff Lehnen and I am the WIYS District Coordinator for SA Youth Football. The Western Iowa Youth Sports (WIYS) league stresses participation, fun, fundamentals and safety for all who play. One of my duties is to find players and coaches for our SA Teams. Therefore, I wanted to reach out early to all the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade boys before we break for summer vacation. Even though it is only Spring, it’s never too early for thinking Fall Football! That being said I am trying to get an initial head count on how many 3rd-5th graders that will be going out for tackle football this year. WIYS divisions for our upcoming 2017 upcoming season will break down as follows: 3rd/4th grade division and a 5th/6th grade division.
We would need 11-15 third players (for each Division), a head coach and 2-3 assistant coaches. The Saint Albert Tradition has always started with a strong parent base of volunteer coaches and this year will be no exception. Youth coaching can be very rewarding/fulfilling and any help will be needed/appreciated. As a feeder program, getting these kids out early and involved in the program is priceless! Teaching the proper form, techniques and fundamentals will ensure our kids are safe and ready to move onto the 6/7, 8/9 and eventually high school levels. The experience of playing together which has been the staple of Saint Albert’s football programs cannot be replaced. Please consider giving your son the opportunity to have some fun, learn safe/proper techniques, experience comradery and develop relationships that only comes through youth sports.
If your child is interested in playing tackle football and/or you would like to help coach this fall please let us know ASAP. We are trying to get numbers for the upcoming season-practice will begin on or around July 31st , 2017. Please email or call:
Thank you for the time and consideration!!!
